Description:

This course has been designed to give you an in-depth knowledge of womenswear pattern cutting which can lead you to a great career as a professional pattern cutter or setting up your own business within the fashion industry. You will be introduced to the industry standard size 12 block which will be a template to build on through out the course duration . 

You will have the opportunity to learn step by step the core skills of style interpretation, pattern drafting and pattern reading. You will progress using this knowledge to alter different parts of the pattern pieces, practicing many variations of styles and silhouettes.

Dart manipulation will be extensively analysed and taught to create style lines and fit in garments. Technical knowledge of labelling pattern, adding grain lines, required seam allowance  and laying of patterns when cutting fabric will be covered. 

At the end of this course, You will leave the with an in-depth knowledge of pattern drafting and cutting with a comprehensive file of pattern samples in both paper and Toile.

Note: Please know that this is STRICTLY a pattern cutting course and NOT sewing.

Level:  Beginners and/or Home sewers. Previous experience not required but a strong interest in the area of course is essential.

-pattern master ruler
-Stiletto awl
-Metric tape measure
-3/4 H pencils, eraser and sharpener
- Magic scotch tape
- Glue stick
- Tracing wheel
- Fine steel pins
- Felt tip pen (or magic marker)
- Fabric scissors
- Paper scissors
- Tailors chalk
- A2 file folder and sleeves
